EthosUrban music although one of the most established and biggest selling genres in the world, is still not invested and marketed correctly in the UK when it comes to home-grown acts. There seems to be neither the will or the know how to maintain an act once it has broken through. However urban music imported from the US is readily digested, even though many of the UK artists are highly regarded by their US counterparts. In the UK the urban artists have to be “UK’s answer to” an already established US artist rather than being themselves. This is a sad state of affairs, but the reason why Seventy Entertainment has stepped into this space to galvanise the UK urban scene by producing great music and uber-cool fashions to be exported around the world. There is insufficient artist development, marketing strategy and collaboration in the UK urban scene. In the US, even acts on different labels work together. They have realised the pie is big enough for everyone to get a slice. In UK there is more of a “me, myself and I” mentality. In addition to this, once an act has success with their raw underground sound, another label steps in then “waters” down the music taking an artist away from their fan base and this new sound is also not palatable for the mainstream where they are trying to achieve major sales. Consequently the artist does not reach his/her potential for sales and is set up to fail and then dropped. This is not necessarily intentional, but most AR departments no longer know how to develop an artist for true long-term growth that translates into continued sales and a profitable back catalogue. Seventy Entertainment has been set up to reverse this trend - with the quality of the acts signed and the way in which we market and deliver them.

‘Nod your head…move your soul’

Seventy Recordings is a truly independent record label and a home for gifted artists, musicians and producers. The mission is simple – create music that is timeless, evoke emotion, stir the soul. Seventy Recordings’ way of making music draws influence from the 1970’s, taking the essence of musicianship, instrumentation, capturing the groove and bringing it into the present and moulding it for the future. We are not attempting to be a 70’s throw back, but simply loving the way music was recorded during that era. info@seventyrecordings.com Tel: +44 (0) 207 749 4773 ]]>
